Cuidich 'n Righ!

The motto stems back from a hunting incident in 1266 when the then Scottish King Alexander II, was knocked off his horse by an infuriated stag, the cry went up "Cuidich 'n Righ" (Help the King), as a result of this, Colin Fitzgerald promptly severed the stags head with one blow before it could gore the King. When one of Fitzgeralds descendants formed the Seaforth Highlanders in 1793 the motto and the stags head badge was adopted.
